For many people, sensitive skin makes even the most basic form of self‑care feel complicated. Sunscreen should be simple, but most formulas rely on ingredients like oxybenzone. While oxybenzone is effective at blocking UV rays, it can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive skin and has been shown to behave like an endocrine disruptor. You can read more about the concerns surrounding oxybenzone here (marquemedical.com in Bing).
Another issue I wanted to address is the white cast that many sunscreens leave behind—especially on people of color. This chalky finish is often caused by the very ingredients meant to protect the skin from photo damage. While the effect shows up on everyone, it’s far more visible on deeper skin tones. That’s why I set out to create a sunscreen that goes on completely clear, offering real protection without compromising inclusivity.
Takeaways
Many sunscreens rely on ingredients that aren’t ideal for sensitive skin.
Most mineral and hybrid formulas still leave a noticeable white cast.
Skincare‑infused sunscreen is still a relatively new space with room for innovation.
A lot of sunscreens are designed to look aesthetically pleasing, but not necessarily to serve diverse skin needs.
There is a real opportunity to create a formula that is safe, effective, and truly inclusive for all skin tones and skin types.
